In 1996 Greg Erickson took apart a Stratocaster and knew he could do better. Today he makes handmade electric guitars from scratch in Buellton, California. Greg learned woodworking from his dad and grandfather. By the age of fifteen he was shaping surfboards in his own backyard shop. He studied math and painting at UC Irvine, then established a lifelong visual arts practice, supported by his labor as woodworker, designer, and builder.
That fateful Stratocaster belonged to Bear Erickson. He test drives the prototypes, installs electronics, creates demonstration videos, and points the way forward.
